This three day playwriting workshop, led by Edgar J. Shockley, III will use successful plays, films, and books to show what works and what doesn’t when writing a screenplay. Writers will come away with information about where to find commissions, and how to pitch your screenplay with results.

Shockley is the author of more than fifty plays. His works have set five box office records and been honored with numerous awards, including the Stephen Sondheim Award for Outstanding Contributions to American Musical Theatre, a Pew Fellowship in the Arts and PA State Arts Council Playwrights Fellowship. He has received commissions for youth theatre plays from Seattle Children’s Theatre, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, Dallas Children’s Theatre, Black Spectrum Theatre and the Harlem Renaissance Theatre. His historical short film, Stone Mansion, aired on Showtime television. Visit him on the web at edshockleymfa.com, or take a look at his impressive back catalog at www.youthPLAYS.com.

I have inspired thousands of authors to create with the four important words. “Write. Analyze. Write again.”

The 70th Annual Philadelphia Writers’ Conference will be held June 8-10, 2018, at the Wyndham Philadelphia Historic District. Visit this page for more information, including speaker information and a general schedule of events.
