Blair Thornburgh brings fresh air to your writing life to PWC with her workshop “Writing Retreat in a Box.” Thornburgh is the author of WHO’S THAT GIRL, a YA romantic comedy from HarperTeen, as well as the forthcoming picture book SKULLS! from Atheneum, an imprint of Simon & Shuster.

This 3-day workshop will teach writers how to get motivated, STAY motivated, and see their projects through to the end—all without having to hole up in an internet-free cabin for two weeks. With productivity hacks, ideas for igniting inspiration, roadmaps for every step of the journey from “once upon a time” to “the end,” Writing Retreat in a Box focuses on creating a mission and purpose to your career and your particular project so that you stay active and productive the whole way through. You’ll learn to develop a practice that works for YOU, and doesn’t depend on inflexible scheduling or mandatory word counts, and find the deeper meaning—and motivation—behind every book that you set out to write.

Thornburgh says, “I love getting to chat with writers in person about their process and schedules—we’re always so isolated and independent when we write that it’s refreshing to get some conversation (and solidarity!) in.”

This session is classified as a Beginner session, although anyone who needs motivation and focus will benefit!

Thornburgh is also an editor at Quirk Books, where she has edited a host of pop culture-driven fiction and non-fiction, including New York Times and international bestsellers. Named one of Publishers Weekly’s Rising Star Honorees for 2017, she is also a graduate of Hamline University’s MFA program in Writing for Children and Young Adults.
