Helpful Web Sites for Writers
These are links to Web Sites we find particularly useful--or in some
cases, particularly interesting. Some are massive Web-links; others are
direct URLs. There may be some duplications within the various lists of
links, but there's a wealth of resources to tap. This is our list:
some purely writing-oriented; some organizations pertaining to writing; some
research areas of a broad nature; and some pure fun.

ACCESS/?? (your state)
This is massive accessability to subscriber-based research databases that
would cost individuals a separate fee for each. Included are such as Grove's
Dictionaries of Music, Art, Astronomy, Astrophysics, and Life
Sciences; Gale's Contemporary Authors; PoemFinder;
StoryFinder; Multimedia Archives of more than 500,000 current and
historical photographs; NoveList that lists over 100,000
titles, 75,000 full texts, and includes over 36,000 subject headings;databases
of magazine and newspaper articles, many available full text; several
search programs aimed at elementary and middle school students (don't
overlook these for your own research - you'll find many simplified
explanations); and possibly more, depending on the programs
subscribed to by your state.
Many libraries have this subscriber-based program available from library
computers, and if you're lucky, your library even offers access from your
home with the simple expedient of entering your library card number at the Access/??
entry. Fantastic.
