The Philadelphia Writers’ Conference Board of Directors is pleased to announce that independent screenwriter and producer Mara Lesemann has signed on to teach a single-day feature at the 2019 Philadelphia Writers’ Conference.  The hour-long, Friday afternoon feature is called Indie Filmmaking: From Script to Stream and will provide an introduction to indie film production for today’s screenwriters.

Mara attended Brown University, and received a BA in Media Studies and Film, with a concentration in screenwriting, from the New School University in New York City. She wrote and produced the indie features Surviving Family (starring Billy Magnussen and Phyllis Somerville) and Detours (starring Tara Westwood, Carlo Fiorletta, and Richard Kind); both are available on Amazon Prime. Mara works frequently as a script consultant; among her recent projects is the satirical podcast Twenty Thirty Four, available on iTunes and SoundCloud. She lives in Lakewood, NJ with her husband.  When asked what she’s most looking forward to at the 2019 conference, she writes “The opportunity to meet other screenwriters who may be considering producing their screenplay, and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.”

The 2019 Philadelphia Writers’ Conference will be held on June 7 – 9, 2019 at the Wyndham Hotel at 4th and Arch Street in Old City Philadelphia.  Registration for the conference will open in early 2019. Watch this space for additional announcements and information on registration, contests, and more!
