PWC Memorial Scholarships

 We offer three Memorial Scholarships each year.  Awards are based partly on involvement in the writing community and partly on hardship or need.

The PWC Memorial Scholarships include: 

  • The Florence Kerigan Memorial Scholarship
  • The Mabel Love Memorial Scholarship
  • The Walter Breish Memorial Scholarship

In 2017 , we will be offering two additional scholarships in honor of Glo and Helene, two long-serving board members who both passed in 2016. These will be called

  • The Helene Matt Memorial Scholarship
  • The Gloria Delamar Memorial Scholarship

A PWC Memorial Scholarship includes the basic tuition to the conference, workshops daily for the full three days, the afternoon features, and the evening raps. Scholarship recipients also have the privilege of submitting manuscripts for the contests and critiques*. Not included are the costs of the Friday buffet, Saturday banquet, master classes, or social media boot camp, as these are optional.

PWC College Student Scholarships

This type of scholarship will cover 50% of basic tuition for any graduate or undergraduate student currently enrolled in a Philadelphia-area college or university.

A PWC College Student Scholarship includes the basic tuition to the conference, workshops daily for the full three days, the afternoon features, and the evening raps. Scholarship recipients also have the privilege of submitting manuscripts for the contests and critiques*. Not included are the costs of the Friday buffet, Saturday banquet, or master classes, as these are optional.

If you are a student at a college or university in the Greater Philadelphia Region (including New Jersey and Delaware)you’ll simply need to provide proof of your student status by uploading a copy of your school ID or recent documentation (like class registration or a letter from the school) to the registration site.

 

 PWC Writer’s Club Scholarships

Writers clubs with seven (7) or more individuals can select one member per club to receive a 50% scholarship to the conference (up to a $150 value).  The scholarships are limited to one per club.  The club is responsible for determining which member will receive the scholarship.  The recipient or the writers’ club is responsible for any costs not covered by the scholarship.

Scholarship codes are granted on a first come, first serve basis. Scholarship codes will be emailed to qualified recipients within 7 – 10 days of submission.

 PWC Senior Center Scholarships

A senior center can select one member per center to receive a 50% scholarship to the conference.  The scholarship can either be paid by the senior center or the recipient.

Scholarship recipients also have the privilege of submitting manuscripts for the contests and critiques*.  PWC Contest Scholarships

These scholarships are given to the winners in each category of the previous year’s writing contests.   Those who register for this year’s conference and pay this year’s tuition are eligible to enter the contest and attempt to win scholarship for next year.  All contest scholarships not used the year following the contest will be forfeited.  Contest scholarships are not transferable.

* All contest and critique manuscripts must be submitted by May 15, 2016.  Scholarship recipients who register after May 15th will be unable to enter the 2016 Manuscript contest or submit manuscripts for review.
