One little known fact about the Philadelphia Writers’ Conference is the Wyndham Hotel offers a deep discount to conferees. The conferee rate for staying overnight is $169 per night, which is nearly $60 off the standard price! Staying overnight offers lots of benefits, including:
- Meet more writers! There are both PWC events (like our writers’ and poets raps) as well as unofficial events as writers gather at the restaurant or their rooms to share what they learned or their work in progress or simply to decompress. Treat it like a sleepover!
- Check out the nightlife. Old City Philadelphia is an incredibly vibrant area with hundreds of restaurants, theaters, and other hotspots within a few blocks of the hotel…Fun for everyone (even for introverts like us!)
- Take in some culture. Old City Philadelphia is rife with history. The Liberty Bell, The Betsy Ross house, The National Museum of American Jewish History, not to mention galleries and shops are all a few minutes walk from the hotel. Sunday, June 10th is Philly’s 30th Annual PrideDay, the largest celebration of LGBT pride in the region, attracting over 25,000 people each year.
To register for your room, visit the special PWC rate page at the Wyndham website or call 1-877-999-3223 and make your reservation (make sure you tell them you’re with the conference). Deadline to receive the special rate is May 9, 2018, so reserve your space soon!
By the way, the Wyndham garage has been reduced to $10 (plus tax) for all conferees. Make sure you check at the front desk to get your discount ticket each day!
Finally, the PWC board will be working with local businesses and setting up additional events for our conferees. We’re still hammering out the details, but watch this space for more.
Don’t battle the train, or deal with parking and city driving! Stay and hang with us instead!
(Or maybe take advantaget of the quiet to write a few extra words instead.)
