We’re all looking forward to the fun this weekend, and part of what makes a conference fun is everyone who attends being treated with fairness and respect. There have been a lot of stories in the news over the past year about writers behaving badly, and this prompted us to take a new look at whether the policies we had in place to prevent discrimination and harassment were sufficient.

Among the many updates we’ve made to this year’s conference, we have also adopted a new anti-harassment policy. Beyond a generic statement affirming that harassment is bad, our goal was to have a policy that made explicit what constitutes harassment, and to create a system that makes it much easier for conference goers to report misconduct. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure a safe and welcoming conference experience for all.

Please check our new policy at http://pwcwriters.org/about-us/harassment-policy/ and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the conference on Friday.
